"We can create, without needing to change the world or anyone at all. We can share what we know with those who are willing to listen. We can become beacons that signal the truth of our experiences.
We are links in a chain of human knowledge, dormant until we are called upon."
Great to have you back on Substack Leslie! As usual, a banger piece! So much sensitivity and sensibility into the process of creation and writing ;) Please keep them coming! :D
This piece was lovely to read. I particularly liked this line - 'what writers can do is add one small data point to our collective understanding of what the world truly is.'
I find myself creating content on my YouTube channel for a few reasons:
1. Skill development: I realized I want to be better at telling stories and YT gets me to do that from both a written and visual standpoint.
2. To find the others: I’m hopeful that I can meet more interesting people by making videos. Creating gives me an excuse to talk with people.
3. To remember my life: I probably could’ve started a Vlog years ago, when I first started traveling. But I didn’t because I just wanted to enjoy the experience of travel first. Now I can just create stuff to have this personal repository of all the places and people I come to know.

Connecting to this...thank you!!
Beautifully said, Leslie 😌💙
I feel so invigorated by that last line - how incredible and beautifully put. I struggle with this concept so much, but this puts me at ease tonight.
