I'd venture to say your advice is relevant to anyone who wants to live a happy, fulfilling and growth-oriented life. The picture does change a bit if you have kids of your own, but a version of the kind of risk-taking, exploring and self-reflection you're endorsing is forever useful.
Love how poignant and relatable your stories are! I LOL-ed at the "taking the bus" part haha -- I do it all the time and can attest to it being (1) scary occasionally especially in the US and (2) fascinating all the time, no matter where it is.
I used to travel only by bike+bus because I lost my drivers license for a while (long embarrassing story). And instantly it was like living another life.
I'm always surprised how many of my friends have never ridden the bus or just refuse to.
"Go to the nicest neighborhood you can find and post up at a park or coffee shop and eavesdrop on conversations. Then take the bus in a rougher neighborhood and listen to what the people on the bus are talking about and how they live."
I love this one. I think people severely overlook how much they can learn from others in their own backyard and how eye-opening it can be to actually explore your own city.
Such great advice and a good reminder to experience life over worrying about how all the pieces will come together.
"Your twenties are a time for expansion and discovery. Being anxious about not knowing your place in the world is a waste of time & energy."
This is something I wish was more clear to people in their twenties, and even beyond.
Wait till you see my next postcard. You’ll love it.
I'm looking forward to it!!
How old are you @Michelle? Still 20s..? Maybe I should write a “How to Make The Most Of Your 30s” article 😎
Hahaha it depends on the day 😉 but I'd love to read that too. I want to know how to make the most out of every decade!
I would love to read your advice for 30s!

Thanks Rick! Actually super encouraging to hear that you find it relevant post-30.

Ohhhh then we absolutely need to get together some time and talk about taking the bus! Those have been real trips in figurative and metaphorical ways.
Let's do it!!!!!
